The Jets named Kevin Dolan of Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY as this week’s High School Coach of the Week. Coach Dolan will receive a $1,000 donation to benefit the school’s football program. Along with the monetary award, Chaminade High School will receive an automatic bid to compete in the 2024 New York Jets 11-ON Tournament.
Coach Dolan will be invited to attend the New York Jets vs. Houston Texans game on Sunday, December 10th, where he will be honored on-field at MetLife Stadium.
In its 28th year, the Jets High School Coach of the Week award is given to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school, and their student-athletes.
The Chaminade Flyers took down Kellenberg Memorial 35-7 to earn their first win of the season. Coach Dolan grew up in Elmont, NY and attended Chaminade High School, where he was an offensive lineman and captained the team during his senior year. He went on to play at Cortland State University and graduated in 1989 with a degree in physical education. That year, Dolan launched his coaching career as an assistant at Lynbrook High School before finding his first head coaching job at New Hyde Park Memorial in 1999. He remained with the Gladiators for 16 years, and took over at Chaminade in 2016. Between the two schools, he has amassed over 80 wins.
For 10 weeks during the football season the Jets and Gatorade present the High School Coach of the Week award to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to his community, his school and his student-athletes. Gatorade and the Jets award each winner with a $2,000 check for their high school’s football program. In addition to the weekly award, a Coach of the Year is selected at the end of the high school season. The Coach of the Year winner is awarded $4,000 and receives a Gatorade cooler cart from the Jets and Gatorade.
