Oregon verbal commit Jones Williams of Lincoln-Way East will be in New Orleans next month for the Nike’s Next Ones football combine that will be held prior to Super Bowl LIX. The Class of 2026 quarterback will be the Chicago Bears representative at the event.

Each National Football League team, plus Europe’s NFL Academy, selects a high school player, who will take part in the event where they will showcase their talents and receive guidance from NFL Legends and elite mentors. At last year’s event in Las Vegas, Pro Football Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson and Michael Vick were part of the VIP experience for 34 high schoolers.

Last season, Williams led LWE to a 12-1. The Griffins only loss was to eventual state champ Loyola Academy in the state semifinals in Illinois’ Class 8A, the state’s largest classification. They finished No. 144 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Williams threw for 2,926 passing yards and 42 touchdowns against only six interceptions. He completed 194 of 286 (67.8%) of his passes. The 4-star college football prospect also added 395 rushing yards and seven TDs on the ground.
