The Louisiana Football Coaches Association has announced its 2024 All-State high school football teams, plus their Coaches and Players of the Year in all classifications.
The 5A Coach of the Year is Brice Brown of Edna Karr. Brown led the Cougars to the Select Division I state championship and a No. 40 ranking in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Brown’s defensive lineman Richard Anderson was named the Defensive MVP. Anderson, a junior, has given his verbal commitment to LSU.
Airline QB Ben Taylor is the Offensive MVP. The Northwestern State-signee finished his career with 12,374 yards, which put him second all-time in the state behind Brock Berlin, who threw for 13,902 yards during his career at Evangel Christian.
In Class 4A, Archbishop Shaw’s Hank Tierney and Cecilia’s Dennis Skains are the Co-Coaches of the Year.
Tierney led Shaw to its first state championship in nearly four decades, winning the Select Division II title. Skains helped Cecilia wins its first title since 1995.
Xavier Ford of Leesville is the Offensive MVP. He set the single-season national rushing record with 3,467 yards and 52 touchdowns. For his career, Ford, who holds scholarship offers from Air Force, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Houston Louisiana-Monroe and Tulane, rushed for 8,591 yards in his career with 123 touchdowns.
Cecilia defensive back Brent Gordon has signed with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The 3-star college football prospect had 119 tackles with four interceptions and eight pass breakups. He also made the 2nd Team as a wide receiver.
