For the fourth time in five years, Madison County is the Florida Class 1A high school football champ. Saturday night at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee, the Cowboys edged Hawthorne 13-12 for the school’s sixth overall championship.
It wasn’t easy, as Hawthorne, playing MC for the state title for the second year in a row, led 12-7 in the fourth quarter.
After a blocked punt, Madison County took-over at the Hawthorne 2-yard line where they would score one play later.
