After 10,000 votes from fans, American Heritage’s (Plantation, Florida) Malachi Toney is the 2024 winner of the Nat Moore Trophy, presented by CBS News Miami.

Like Moore, the former Miami Dolphins wide receiver, who caught 510 balls during his 13-year NFL career, Toney is a wide receiver. However, Toney, a Miami Hurricane-signee, played quarterback for the final four games of his scholastic career.

With Toney, at the helm of the offensive controls, AH won the Florida Class 4A high school football championship last week. Toney moved to quarterback when Texas-recruit Dia Bell, a junior, was injured against Dillard.

Toney completed of 71-percent of his passes (38-for-53) for 524 yards with eight touchdowns and only one interception.

When he was catching the ball, Toney grabbed 58 passes for 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Currently, American Heritage is ranked No. 17 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

In addition to Toney, the other finalists that voters could choose from were Ben Banks, Jr. of Miami Booker T. Washington; Ezekiel Marcelin of Miami Central; and Ennior Yapoor of Norland.
