For the first time since 1995, the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association will have eight schools in its A Conference. The MIAA has announced that Concordia Prep and St. Mary’s move up to A and St. Vincent Pallotti is moving down to the B Conference, creating two eight team leagues with C Conference being disbanded.

Archbishop Spalding is the reigning A champ. The Cavaliers enter the year as the conference’s highest ranked team in the High School Football America 300 preseason national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. In fact, they are the only MIAA in the Top 300 at No. 64.

It should be pointed out that St. Frances Academy from Baltimore is a member of MIAA, but doesn’t compete in football. Instead, the Panthers have been playing a national schedule since 2019. SFA enters the year ranked No. 18.

Concordia Prep moves up having won two straight B titles.

St. John’s Catholic Prep and Severn have moved up to B from the now defunct C Conference. For C member Annapolis Area Christian will play an independent schedule.

The top four teams in each conference will advance to league semifinal playoff games with the winners of those games meeting for their respective league championships.
