The 9th annual Charlotte Kickoff Night will feature four regulars in the High School Football America national rankings powered by NFL Play Football.
The August 18 doubleheader will kickoff with North Carolina’s Hough High School taking-on South Carolina-power Dutch Fork. The second game will be an in-state battle between Mallard Creek and Myers Park.
Last year, Dutch Fork saw its streak of five straight 5A titles snapped last season with a 22-19 loss to Gaffney in the state championship game. The Silver Foxes finished No. 54 in our national rankings.
Dutch Fork head coach Tom Knotts, the 2019 High School Football America National Coach of the Year, makes another return to the Tar Heel State where he won eight state championship before moving-on to South Carolina.
Hough, looking for its first-ever state championship, was ranked No. 42 in America last Fall after losing in the Class 4A state semifinals to Chambers. It was the Huskies only loss of the season.
The Mallard Creek/Myers Park matchup features two teams that finished honorable mention in our national rankings last year.
Myers Park season was erased when it was forced to forfeit all eight of its victories, because it used an ineligible players.
Mallard Creek won three straight state championships from 2013 through 2015.
