The 2022 Midsouth Association of Independent Schools opens the regular season on August 19. The MAIS is made-up of private schools from Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee. Most of the schools are in Mississippi.
While most may not know many of the teams in the MAIS, Madison-Ridgeland Academy has grabbed the national spotlight recently. Last year, the three-time defending MAIS 6A champs went outside of MAIS with high-profile games against national powers Oakland (Tennessee) and Pulaski Academy (Arkansas).
After beating MRA, Oakland went on to its second straight Tennessee 6A championship and Pulaski Academy won its sixth title in the last seven years. The Patriots will play both schools again this year.
Madison-Ridgeland enters 2022 ranked No. 143 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
