The shake-up in the High School Football America National Top 25 was felt down in The Other 25 — teams #26 through #50.

After spending the entire season in the Top 25, Mainland (Florida) falls to #26 after its loss to #13 St. Edward (Ohio).  St. Joseph Regional (New Jersey), which lost to two-time defending Class 4A Pennsylvania champ St. Joseph’s Prep, tumbles from #16 to #34.

The big climbs this week are Serra from Gardena, California and Maryville from Tennessee.

Serra is an interesting story as breaks-in to the Top 25 at #35.  The Cavaliers’ ranking in our algorithm has been greatly affected by a 52-13 blowout loss to #3 Corona Centennial (California) in the second game of the season.  However, Serra was without its star quarterback, Arizona-bound Khalil Tate, who had to sit-out the game after being ejected a week prior.

The great thing about our algorithm is it takes opinion out of the equation, however, in the case of Serra, the Cavaliers were hurt by the fact that all our algorithm sees is a 39 point loss, not the loss of a star player.

Maryville, which finished #18 in the nation in 2014, climbs to #28 from #36 this week.  The Rebels are currently on a 37-game win streak and are looking for their third straight Tennessee state title and 16th overall.

In addition to Serra, new to the Top 50 this week — Folsom (California) at #45, Hamilton (Arizona) at #48 and Trinity (Kentucky) at #50.
