IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida), ranked No. 2 in the latest High School Football America Top 100, needed a second half comeback Friday night to beat No. 11 Miami Central 24-15.
Central took at 9-0 lead in the second quarter before the Ascenders were able to close the gap to 9-3 at the half. The Ascenders second half comeback was sparked by Ryker Brazerol’s blocked punt late in the third quarter that was recovered by Xavier Thomas in the end zone, giving IMG a 10-9.
After Central reclaimed the lead, running back Trey Sanders raced to a 65-yard touchdown to give IMG the lead, 16-15. Late in the game, running back Noah Cain scored the win-clinching touchdown with 1:46 to play.
