Milton is the No. 1 public high school in America after winning the school’s second straight Georgia high school football championship.
Tuesday night, Milton, who is ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 51 Langston Hughes 56-35 to win the 5A high school football championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons. The victory means that Milton will be the top ranked public school in the nation and finish No. 2 overall in America when the final HSFA 300 comes out Sunday.
Miami Hurricane-signee Luke Nickel closed-out an incredible scholastic career with a nearly perfect performance. Nickel completed 21-of-22 passes for 413 yards with four touchdowns.
All four touchdowns came in a high-scoring first half that ended with 866 total yards combined offense and Milton leading 42-35.
Running back Tim Lester rushed for 201 yards with three touchdowns scores.
Milton will carry at 25-game win streak into 2025.
