St. John Bosco’s success against Florida high school football champs continues. Saturday night, the Braves, ranked No. 5 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 3 Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) 34-27 in a game that ended early Sunday morning on ESPN.

Last year, SJB opened with a 20-7 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, who went on to win a Florida-record fifth straight state championship. C-M has won three straight Florida state titles.

Saturday night’s win was a back-forth affair that put an ending on the Broward County National Football Showcase. The game was sloppy at times with over 30 penalties flag tossed.

The winning score came on a 71-yard run from Maliq Blackwell-Allen.

This one wasn’t decided until the end.

Junior quarterback Matai Fuiava had a big debut as the Braves starter, throwing for three scores and over 300 yards.

Bosco has now won 17 of its last 18 games that it’s played outside of California.
