Paramus Catholic has named Dan Sabella as its new head football coach.
Sabella spent nine years across town at Paramus High where he turned the Spartans into a North Jersey Section 1 Group 4 contender. Sabella led Paramus to a 63-36 record with back-to-back runner-up finishes in the section in 2013 and 2014.
School officials are hoping that Sabella brings stability to the head coach position after a 3-6 season that saw John Westervelt take over as head coach after Blake Costanzo announced he was leaving after only a few months on the job. In January, Costanzo, a former NFL player, was named the head coach after Chris Partridge stepped down to take a recruiting position at the University of Michigan.
Paramus Catholic missed the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
