If you listened to Lubbock High School head coach Jason Strunk on Thursday’s High School Football America radio show (below), you heard him talk about his team’s Silver Spurs rivalry game tonight at 7:30 against Monterey. The Westerners are hoping to snap a string of six straight wins by Monterey in the series, which means the Silver Spurs have stayed in the Monterey trophy case.
Lubbock (0-3) is looking for its first win of the season, while Monterey is 1-2.
In previewing the game, Phil Terrigno reports that while Lubbock has struggled on defense, allowing 162 points and 1,218 yards in total offense, the Westerners’ offense is the best in District 4-5A. The offense, which is led by quarterback James Garcia, has racked-up 1,021 yards in total offense.
Tonight’s game is the 59th in the series.
