The Kansas City Chiefs will head into the 2024 season with the opportunity to do something that no other National Football League team has ever done, win three straight Super Bowls. Late Sunday night, the Chiefs joined the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers (twice) and San Francisco 49ers as the only teams to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
As we’ve done through the years, we’re going to recap Super Bowl LVIII through the lens of high school football.
We’ll start with KC head coach Andy Reid, who now owns three Super Bowl rings. Reid played his high school football at John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, California. It should come as no surprise that he was an offensive and defensive lineman, but some may not envision him as a kicker.
Andy was the team’s kicker, helping the team win three contests with late game field goals.
In 2012, while he was the Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Reid was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also entered some rare company with his third Pete Rozelle Award for being the game’s Most Valuable Player. The Whitehouse High School (Texas) alum is now tied with San Francisco 49ers QB Joe Montana with three Super Bowl MVP awards. Tom Brady owns five Super Bowl MVP’s, the most by any player.
