Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Don Maynard, who will be featured in my upcoming book High School Football in Texas: Amazing Football Stories from the Greatest Players of Texas, played his final two seasons at Colorado City High School in west Texas. Maynard actually began his football career playing 6-Man football at Three Way High School.

While Maynard didn’t play on the turf at Colorado City (pronounced Colo-Raid-doe), he did play in this stadium that I visited on my recent cross-country drive with High School Football co-founder Trish Hoffman.
