When it comes to high school football stadiums, Cottingham Stadium, home of the Easton High School Red Rovers is a classic that dates back to 1924. The iconic concrete beachers were built in 1925.
This is the stadium where my sports journalism career began in the mid-70’s. While the grass may be a bit worn and the scoreboard a bit dated, nothing beats the home of the Rovers.
For over 100 years, Easton plays arch-rival Phillipsburg (New Jersey) on Thanksgiving morning for the Forks of the Delaware Trophy. The game has aired LIVE twice on ESPN. The game is played at Lafayette College in Easton and annual draws 13,000 to 15,000 fans.
