Thompson hangs on to No. 1 in Alabama Top 10 despite loss

Despite its 35-29 upset loss to Hewitt-Trussville, Thompson remains No. 1 in the latest High School Football America Alabama Top 10 statewide rankings. The Warriors are 8-1 heading into a bye week as the regular season closes-out this weekend. H-T re-enters the statewide rankings at No. 8.

The Class 7A playoff bracket should be action-packed with top-ranked Thompson looking to improve on its runner-up finish from last year. Defending 7A champ Central (Phenix City) is also on a bye week. The Red Devils are currently No. 3 in the state.

No. 2 Hoover will close-out the regular season against nationally-ranked IMG Academy (Florida). The Bucs are ranked No. 39 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, while IMG is No. 13.

In the national rankings, Thompson fell from No. 27 to 37 this week, while Central is ranked No. 41 in the nation.
