Toughest high school football conferences/districts/leagues/regions in ’24

Southern California’s Trinity League remains the best high school football league in America. All six teams in the league finished inside the final 2024 High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football.

The Trinity League was led by Mater Dei, which won its second straight HSFA national championship. The Monarchs have now won five national crowns since 2017.

Seven of the last eight national crowns have been won by the league with St. John Bosco winning national titles in 2019 and 2022. Bosco finished No. 5 in the HSFA 300 last season.

No. 26 St. Joseph’s Prep and No. 202 Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast won Pennsylvania championships last year. No. 207 Roman Catholic was a state runner-up.

Led by Florida champ American Heritage (Plantation), the Sunshine State’s District 16 in Class 4A was the third toughest in ’24. The Patriots finished No. 16 in the country. AH beat district foe Norland (No. 37) twice on the way to the state championship. Plantation finished No. 300 in the country.

Add in Archbishop McCarthy and every team in the four-team district finished with an above .500 record.
