No. 1 Mater Dei now owns at least a piece of the 2024 Trinity League high school football championship. Friday night, before a sellout crowd, the four-time High School Football America national champs, blasted No. 2 St. John Bosco 59-14. It was the largest margin of victory in the rivalry.

The Monarchs scored on its first six possessions and never looked back. Washington-recruit Dash Beierly tossed four touchdown passes and ran for a 45-yard TD.

Mater Dei can wrap-up the outright Trinity League title next week when the Monarchs play No. 11 Orange Lutheran.

OLu put itself in the Trinity League championship talk Friday night with a 38-0 shutout of No. 32 Servite. T.J. Lateef, who’s given his verbal to Nebraska, tossed three touchdowns and ran for one.

Thursday night, JSerra won its first league game, beating Santa Margarita 35-33. The game came down to the final play with the Lions stopping the Eaglesā€™ two-point conversion try that would have sent the game to overtime.
