One week from today, high school football will celebrate, what I believe is, one of the best days of the season — Turkey Day football on Thanksgiving.
For the most part, Turkey Day high school football is a northeast thing with a large majority of the game being played in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
The oldest public school Thanksgiving rivalry in the nation will be played Thursday at Wellesley High School in Massachusetts between the Raiders and Needham. Thursday’s game will be No. 132 in the series that dates back to 1882.
Over the next week, High School Football America will look at this great high school football tradition with highlights from the greatest rivalries in the nation.
