The Westerners traveled to Dumas on Friday night and faced a talented Demon football team.  Dumas was as good as advertised and downed the Westerners 29-3.

Many things to take away from this game.  For starters, we have a solid defense.  Our defense plays hard and they are tough.  Our offense only amassed 47 total yards against a stingy Demon D.  The LHS defense kept us in the game all night long.  We trailed at the half 16-3.  Our guys battled all night and Dumas had the field position advantage every time I looked.  But our kids dug in and fought.  So overall, it was another good game for our defense.

Friday’s game at Dumas meant a three-hour bus ride for the Lubbock Westerners.

Andrews.  We had way too may miscues.  False start penalties derailed at least two of
our drives.  We didn’t execute anything we intended to offensively.  We need to get better on offense and in a hurry!

The good news?  We woke up on Saturday!  Life didn’t end with a loss.  We got back to Lubbock at 2:00 A.M.  The kids, all of them, we’re back here at 9 A.M. We just
got back to work. That’s what you do in life and football. Keep working.  Find a way! We will continue to do so.  That is a fact!

The Westerners get back in the saddle this week to face another Lubbock Independent School District team, the Estacado Matadors.
