The Washington State Football Coaches Association is changing the format of the 2024 high school football playoffs. Via a news release, the WSFCA announced it’s implementing a “Round of 32” for the Week 10 for the state’s 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A classifications. The 2B and 1B playoff formats will remain the same.
Under the new plan, the traditional Week 10 district playoff matchups are eliminated. Instead, teams may be traveling across the state for the opportunity to advance to the first round of the state playoffs.
According to the WSFCA news release, “John Applegate will coordinate the Week 10 pairings with the help of District Directors and the WIAA Seeding Committees for each classification in football.”
The winners of the “Round of 32” games will advance to the state tournament where they will be re-seeded. The losers are eliminated from the postseason.
