In fairness to all, we never release our first in-season High School Football America Top 25 until all of the August games are played. That means we will be will releasing our first poll late Sunday afternoon after #10 St. Joseph’s Prep plays Mount Carmel in Chicago.
There will definitely be changes when the first in-season poll is released with #2 Hoover (Alabama) losing to #14 Miami Central (Florida) on Saturday, along with loses by #23 Trinity Christian (Florida) and #24 McEachern (Georgia).
This weekend there will be two match-ups involving Top 25 teams that will shape the first in-season poll. First there’s the showdown in Florida between #3 St. Thomas Aquinas and #11 American Heritage on Friday. In California Friday night, #22 Servite opens its season against five-time Nevada state champ Bishop Gorman that was ranked #8 in our preseason poll.
