Two head-to-head matchups in the High School Football America Massachusetts Top 10 played-out as advertised. No. 3 Xaverian Brothers needed overtime to beat No. 7 Catholic Memorial, while No. 5 Mansfield (3-1) stopped a two-point conversion to prevent overtime in a victory over No. 9 King Phillip Regional.

Xaverian (3-1) battled back from a 17-point deficit to defeat Catholic Memorial (3-1) 25-17 in a Catholic Conference showdown. Michael Berluti’s touchdown pass to Cooper DeVeau gave the Hawks the victory after trailing 17-0.

King Phillip also had to deal with a deficit. The two-time defending state champs battled back from a 14 point deficit, cutting the lead to 28-27 on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Robbie Jarest to Timmy Nault with 39 seconds to play.

Instead of playing for overtime, King Phillip (2-2) went for two. Jarest’s pass fell incomplete giving Mansfield the victory.
