16 former Louisiana high school football players were taken in the 2017 NFL Draft that was held in Philadelphia. Louisiana and Ohio had the fifth most players taken with Georgia leading the way with 29, followed by Florida with 27.
St. Augustine alum Leonard Fournette was the highest pick at No. 4. Jacksonville chose the former LSU running back, who was High School Football America’s National Player of the Year in 2013.
John Curtis had two players drafted — linebacker Duke Riley at No. 75 by the Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Malachi Dupre at No. 247 by Green Bay. Both players played at LSU.
