After a week of voting, fans have chosen the 2015 Katy Tigers as the great Texas high school football team of all time. The Tigers garnered 46.7 percent of the votes cast, while Allen captured 43.9 percent of the vote.
Katy won the 2015 Class 6A Division II state championship with a rock solid defense that only allowed 62 points during a 16-0 season. The state championship was the eighth overall for Katy, which tied the state record for the most state titles.
The 2013 Allen state championship was the second of three straight for the Eagles under unbeaten quarterback Kyler Murray, who never lost a high school football game. Austin Westlake’s 1996 state championship team, quarterbacked by future Hall of Famer Drew Brees, finished a distance third with only 5.2 percent of the vote.
