Twenty of the nation’s best high school football quarterbacks will be in Los Angles next week for the annual Elite 11 competition.
Since 1999, the Elite 11 has been a Who’s Who for future NFL first round picks Teddy Bridgewater, Justin Fields, Josh Freeman Blaine Gabbert, Jared Goff, Dwayne Haskins, Trevor Lawrence, Jake Locker, Matt Leinart, Andrew Luck, Kyler Murray, Josh Rosen, JaMarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Tua Tagovailoa, Tim Tebow, Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston and Vince Young.
Missing from this year’s field is the overall No. 1 prospect, according to 247Sports, Arch Manning of Isidore Newman in Louisiana. The grandson of Archie Manning and the nephew of Peyton and Eli, still hasn’t made his college decision. Many believe Arch’s verbal decision will come down to Alabama, Georgia and Texas.

Every year, the Elite 11 coaches names an MVP, but that doesn’t necessarily signal future success. While Fields (2017), Sanchez (2004), Stafford (2005), Tagovailoa (2016) and Winston (2011) went-on to become NFL 1st Round draft picks, 12 former MVP’s went undrafted and seven never played in a NFL contest.
