Defending 6A champ Lone Peak heads into the start of the 2022 Utah high school football this weekend as the No. 1 team in the High School Football America Utah Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football. In addition to the their top-ranking in the state, the Knights are ranked No. 84 in our national rankings.
Once again, Lone Peak will face a tough out-of-state schedule that features three teams ranked in our the High School Football America 300 national rankings. The Knights will play No. 223 Alemany (California) on August 19, No. 96 Liberty (Nevada) on August 26 and No. 260 Highland (Arizona) on September 9. On September 2, LP will host Arizona’s Centennial High, a team ranked in our Top 1000.
In-state, Lone Peak, plays in the uber-tough Region 4, which includes No. 93 Corner Canyon, No. 167 Skyridge and No. 214 American Fork. The Knights open the season this weekend against No. 283 Timpview in a non-region contest.
No. 2 Corner Canyon will test itself against Nevada and national-power Bishop Gorman. After opening against Herriman this weekend, the Chargers will travel to Las Vegas the next week to take-on the Gaels who are ranked No. 13 in the nation.
Before heading into its region games, CC will play No. 4 Lehi, the state’s reigning 5A champ, and No. 7 Bingham.
No. 3 Skyridge will play in-state opponents in 2022. The Falcons have non-region games against No. 6 Timpview, No. 8 Orem and No. 9 East.
No. 4 Lehi’s schedule is highlighted with an out-of-state game against Idaho’s Highland and a non-region game against No. 2 Corner Canyon.

Lehi is part of 5A-Region 8, which includes Timpview and Orem. The Pioneers close-out the regular season with back-to-back games against the Thunderbirds and Tigers.
No. 5 American Fork has a tough out-of-state game against Idaho-power Rigby, which as won two of the state’s last three 5A titles.

No. 7 Bingham has an out-of-state game against Bishop Manogue, a Nevada Top 10 team
No. 8 Orem, which has played many out-of-state opponents through the years, will face Nevada’s Desert Pines, a team in our Top 1000.
On September 9, No. 9 East will host national power IMG Academy (Florida), ranked No. 7 in our preseason national rankings. It’s the second time the Leopards have played the Ascenders. In 2017, East lost to IMG 43-19.
As far as our national rankings, in addition to the Top 10, seven other teams are in our Top 1000. They are Mountain Ridge, Ridgeline, Riverton, Springville, Syracuse, Weber and West.
