The Catholic High School Football League of Metropolitan New York is coming-off an outstanding 2022. Three teams in the league’s AAA Division teams finished in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, in 2022
Melville’s St. Anthony’s (11-1) won the AAA regular season and postseason titles, finishing No. 107 nationally. The Friars also won the New York State Catholic Football Championship.
Iona Prep, which lost twice to St. Anthony’s in 2022, finished No. 117 in nation last year. Archbishop Stepinac ended last year ranked No. 207 in the HSFA 300.
What does 2023 hold for those three teams and the others in the high-quality league?
There are plenty of big out-of-state games in 2023 that could keep many of the teams in the national conversation.
