American Heritage (Plantation) now owns six Florida high school football championships. Friday night. the Patriots, ranked No. 24 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 27 Jones (Orlando) 40-31 for the state’s Class 4A state title.

The most amazing thing about AH’s first state title since 2020 was the fact that they did it with a wide receiver playing quarterback. Malachi Toney became the Patriots’ QB when 5-star signal caller Dia Bell, a University of Texas-recruit, was injured in the team’s second round playoff game against Dillard.

Friday night, at FIU’s South Dade Kia Field at Pitbull Stadium, Toney a 4-star, Miami Hurricanes-recruit, completed 15-of-18 pass with a touchdown.
