Chamblee High School’s offense will be lead by a Pro Football Hall of Famer Ed Reed this fall. The team announced on X (former Twitter) the hiring of the 9-time Pro Bowler as its offensive coordinator. His son, Ed Reed III (Class of 2026), is a receiver for the Bulldogs.

This will be Reed’s first coaching job at the high school rankings. The former 1st Round NFL Draft pick in 2002, spent a year as the defensive backs coach with the Buffalo Bills. He also spent a couple of years in an advisory role with the Miami Hurricanes, his alma mater.

Reed, who played for the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and New York Jets, led the NFL in interceptions three times, finishing with 64 interceptions during his 12-year professional career. He holds the record for the longest interception return (107-yard touchdown) and is the only player in NFL history to score touchdowns by interception, fumble recovery, blocked punt and punt return. In 2004, Reed was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year.

During his high school playing days at Destrehan High School in Louisiana, Reed was an all-state defensive back with seven interceptions during his senior season. He also excelled on special teams with three punt returns for touchdowns.

The addition of Reed means that head coach Bob Swank now has two former Baltimore Ravens on his staff. Last year, Swank hired Jamal Lewis, who ran for over 10,000 yards during his NFL career. Lewis, whose son Jazz is a player for the Bulldogs, was hired as the program’s Director of College Recruiting.
