April 8th is a big day for the current high school football playoff system in Massachusetts. That when the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association will vote on whether to eliminate the current statewide playoff format that has been in-place since the 2013 season.
If the MIAA votes in-favor of keeping the current system, the organization’s football committee could tweak the current format. A no vote could mean that the state would return to a regular season that ends on Thanksgiving with the state semifinals and Super Bowls to follow, thus eliminating the crowning of statewide champs.
