The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference will not be expanding out-of-state rosters spots from 20 to 30.  Earlier this week, the presidents of the conference schools voted unanimously against a proposal that led the Kansas Football Coaches Association to discuss a possible boycott of the JUCO’s.

After the proposal to increase out-of-state spots going to border states of Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma was voted down, the conference voted on another proposal that would have eliminated roster restrictions entirely, but that was also voted down by a 10-8 margin.

“After a long two weeks we are happy to say the KJCCC Presidents voted down the 85 non-restriction roster,” said Steve Martin, President of the Kansas High School Football Coaches Association and head coach at Northwest High School in Wichita.  “After a short time Thursday it became apparent the ten-added Border state proposal was not what some wanted.  The initial vote was 10-0 with eight schools abstaining.  They then turned to another proposal that would have taken the Out of State restrictions completely off.  That was voted down 10-8.  All in all it was a great day for Kansas kids.  We feel we have solidified their place in the KJCCC for a couple more years.  However I don’t feel like this will be the last of it.”
