St. John Bosco, #1 in the High School Football America Top 25, traveled across three times zones to beat St. Xavier in Ohio on Saturday. The 34-0 win was led by junior quarterback Re-Al Mitchell, who was 10 of 19 passing for 204 and two touchdowns. Mitchell also had five carries for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Mitchell started the scoring with a 98-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Braves amassed 494 yards in total offense, while the SJB defense held St. X to 148 yards in total offense.
“His big plays lit our fire early,” Bosco head coach Jason Negro said of Mitchell in the Press-Telegram. “He got a chance to show he’s not a flash in the pan after the CIF final, but he has a long way to go to be a great quarterback.”

Berkeley Holman, who has given his verbal commitment to Northwestern caught three passes, two for touchdowns for 130 yards.
St. John Bosco now returns to the West Coast to take-on La Mirada, which won the 2015 CIF Division III-AA state title and opened the season with a 21-14 win over Orange Lutheran on Friday.
St. Xavier plays #19 Colerain (Ohio) next week.
