Dan Albano of the Orange County Register is reporting that Bob Johnson, the longtime head coach at Mission Viejo and Orange County’s winningest head coach will retire at the end of the season.
According to CalHiSports.com, Coach Johnson owns a career record of 339-94-1. He’s been the head coach at Mission Viejo since 1999. From 1979-1990, he was the head coach at El Toro. In 2015, Johnson and the Diablos won the school’s first state championship, beating Bellarmine Prep for the Division I-AA title.
Currently, Mission Viejo is ranked No. 24 in the High School Football America Top 100 national rankings.
