Let’s face it, there’s never a dull moment when Rush Propst is around. Two months after USA Academy announced him as its first-ever head football coach, the private school in Alabama with national aspirations, is looking for a new head coach after Propst announced he’s no longer the leader of the program.
According to AL.com, Propst never signed a contract and posted the following statement from the seven-time Alabama/Georgia high school football championship coach.
“As many of you know, on January 2, 2020, I was introduced as the Head Football Coach for the new Ultimate Student Athletes Academy. At the time of the press conference, while I believed we had reached agreement on a majority of terms, we had not and have not entered into an employment contract. Due to a variety of factors outside of my control, I have informed USA Academy that I will no longer consider a position with USA Academy. I wish those associated with USA Academy much success.”

A couple of weeks ago, USA Academy announced a ten-game schedule for 2020 that featured five teams that finished 2019 in the High School Football America 100.
Propst was fired from Colquitt County in Georgia during the 2019 off-season for undisclosed allegations of misconduct. Propst’s record with the Packers was 119-35 with state titles in 2014 and 2015. The ’15 team was named as the “mythical” High School Football America nation champs.
Propst is no stranger to controversy, in 2007, he left Hoover (Alabama) under a cloud of issues after winning five state titles, plus was the central figure in the MTV show Two-A-Days that chronicled his 2005 and 2006 teams.
