It’s been a week since life changed forever for Kelly Hewins Alkhatib, mother of Jack Alkhatib, an offensive lineman on the nationally-ranked Dutch Fork (South Carolina) football team, who passed away on the practice field. Since that day, I’ve watched a mother’s love and strength for her son on full-display on her Twitter account.

I thought our readers would enjoy seeing Kelly’s tweets. However, before I post those tweets, I want to honor Jack by making him a member of the 2020 High School Football America All-America Team. When I noticed that Jack’s GPA was 3.8, which was above our threshold for Academic All-American, I wanted to make him a part of the team.
Our inaugural team, that was released earlier this month, was developed in a variety ways with information that was given to High School Football America and our partners at scoutSMART®.
As you can see from the above graphic, the 5-time defending state champs will thinking about Jack and his family during Friday’s big game against state-ranked Byrnes.
RIP, Jack.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18⁰For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ♥️? pic.twitter.com/uGG5RmvO7D

If I’d known that God would give me this precious boy for only 17 years, I would still have chosen this life. Jack brought so much joy to our family, his friends and community. He was and is a bright light in our family. I am such a blessed woman. God’s timing is perfect. pic.twitter.com/JPwuziWGHx
