A calm week in the Top 100 with very little change in the national high school football rankings

The High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football, looks very similar to last week’s after only eight HSFA 100 teams lost this past weekend. Five of those losses came in head-to-head Top 100 matchups.

No. 3 St. John Bosco (California) wrapped-up second place in the Trinity League and the No. 2 seed in the uber-tough CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs with a win over No. 19 Servite (California).

In Georgia, No. 18 Collins Hill wrapped-up a perfect 10-0 regular season by beating former No. 82 Mill Creek 40-10 in a battle of unbeatens. The Eagles’ defense forced five turnovers in the victory. Mill Creek falls three spots to No. 85 this week.

No. 23 St. John’s College High School (Washington, DC) wrapped-up a piece of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship by beating No. 73 Good Counsel 34-21. The Cadets can win the title outright by beating arch-rival Gonzaga (Washington, DC) this weekend.

In Texas, North Shore captured the Texas District 21-6A crown by beating former No. 45 Atascocita 31-21. North Shore moves-up 14 slots to No. 48 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

Defending Florida 6A champ Miami Central beat rival Miami Northwestern for the second time this year. The Rockets hold at No. 22 in the nation after a 49-7 win, which drops the Bulls 23 places to No. 57.

The shock of the week was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where No. 21 Catholic was upset by Woodlawn 35-28. Woodlawn entered the game with a 2-4 record. Catholic tumbles 37 places to No. 58.

Another team from Louisiana may find itself in a very different position next week. No. 56 Brother Martin may take a big tumble after the Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced that it will have to forfeit its first five wins because of using an academically-ineligible player.

Brother Martin will be appealing the ruling. If it’s not upheld, the Crusaders will be dramatically affected heading into this weekend’s season finale against against No. 151 John Curtis (Louisiana).

New to the rankings this week is Central High of Phenix City, Alabama. The Red Devils check-in at No. 97.

Headlining the week ahead is the showdown between No. 2 Westlake and No. 61 Lake Travis for the Texas District 26-6A championship. The rivalry game, known as the “Battle of the Lakes,” began in 2006.

Westlake will be looking for its second straight Texas high school football championship when the playoffs begin in two weeks.
