Governor Mifflin (Pennsylvania) running back Nick Singleton’s trophy case is getting bigger. Friday night, Singleton was named the winner of the 2021 Maxwell Football Club’s Offensive Player of the Year Award at the organization’s annual national gala in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Singleton’s national honor means that he’s the first player in the 85-year history of the Maxwell Football Club to win its Pennsylvania Player of the Year award, the Ed Henry Award and National Offensive Player of the Year Award. Earlier this year, Singleton was named Gatorade’s National Player of the Year.

The 6-foot, 215-pound running back, who is already enrolled at Penn State, ran for 2,043 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2021. He smashed every rushing school record, finishing his career with 6,716 yards with 110 touchdowns. For his career, Singleton averaged 11.2 yards per carry.

On Friday, Singleton told EasternPAFootball.com, “It’s sinking in a little bit. I’ve prepared myself for this. I’ll take a deep breath before I go up there and accept these awards. I turned 18 in January, and things did get harder faster for me. I’ll remember the fun and how this process has been.”

As far as the start of his college football career, Singleton said, “It’s been busy and I rarely get time off, getting up at 6 in the morning, then there are walkthroughs and classes. I don’t get back to my dorms until around 7 or 8 at night. It’s been really busy. I feel like I’m in the army a little bit, with the schedule.”
