The Avon and St. Ignatius football teams will get a thrill in August when the two powerful programs square-off in Cleveland Browns Stadium. The game will be the first between the schools and will be played August 23.
Avon is coming off a 14-1 season, losing to Archbishop Hoban in the Division II state semifinals. The Eagles were ranked No. 123 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
St. Ignatius, which owns 11 Division I Ohio high school football championships, was a sub-par 3-9 last year, but did advance to the second round of the playoffs.
Back in 2022, St. Ignatius played arch-rival St. Edward at Browns Stadium. This will be Avon’s second trip to the National Football League Stadium, losing to Avon Lake in 2007.
