After five Georgia high school football championships and 324 lifetime wins, Camden County’s Jeff Herron is hanging up his whistle. In addition to the stress of coaching in Georgia’s largest classification, Herron has been battling prostate cancer over the last two-and-a-half years.
After a 7-3 regular season Herron led CC on a surprising postseason run, advancing to the 7A state semifinals. In the state quarterfinals, the Wildcats shocked defending 7A champ Mill Creek, which entered the game ranked No. 8 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
After losing to Walton in the state semis, Camden County finished the season No. 207 in our national rankings.

During his 32 seasons as a head coach, Herron amassed a record of 324-69. 309 of those wins came in Georgia, the rest were during a short stay at T.L. Hanna in South Carolina.
Herron led Camden County to three state titles, plus he won a state crown at Grayson and one at Oconee County.
