Teddy Bridgewater will be able to add to his championship ring collection in the coming weeks. Less than two weeks after leading Miami Northwestern to the Florida 3A high school football state championship, the Bulls head coach is back in the National Football League with the top team in the National Football Conference, the Detroit Lions.

The 32-year old Bridgewater retired at the end of last season after being Jared Goff’s backup with the Lions, who in 2023 lost in the NFL Championship game to the San Francisco 49ers. Shortly after retiring, Bridgewater was named the head coach at his alma mater.

In Bridgewater’s first season as head coach, Northwestern finished 12-2 and ranked No. 33 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
