For the second year in a row, high school football will be played at Bank of America Stadium, home of the National Football League‘s Carolina Panthers. Unlike last year, when the NFL team hosted one game, this year will feature two games.
The doubleheader will feature three teams that finished 2023 ranked in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
On Thursday, August 22, the doubleheader will open with Independence playing Myers Park. Independence was 11-4 last year, finishing No. 242 in the HSFA 300. Myers Park finished 7-4.
In the nightcap, defending 4A champ Weddington will play reigning North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Providence Day. The Chargers were the top team in our North Carolina state rankings and No. 69 in the HSFA 300. Weddington was No. 2 in the state and No. 90 in the nation.
Last year, Providence Day beat South Carolina’s Northwestern 42-35 at B of A Stadium.
