Cedar Hill Longhorns footballWFAA-TV is reporting that Cedar Hill head coach Joey McGuire will not be leaving his high school Longhorns for the University of Texas Longhorns.  Multiple reports had Texas head coach Charlie Strong offering McGuire, who’s been Cedar Hill’s head coach for 12 years, an assistant position in Austin.

McGuire texted to WFAA’s Ted Madden: “I am staying at Cedar Hill. Most will think I am nuts, but heck, u know I am nuts. Just can’t see me not coaching Garrett.”

McGuire, who’s led the CH Longhorns to three Texas state titles, including back-to-back championships in 2013 and 2014, is referring to his son Garrett in that text.  His son is a sophomore quarterback at Cedar Hill.

Last season, Cedar Hill finished #11 in High School Football America’s Top 25.
