Clinch County avenged a 21-3 regular season defeat to Irwin County with a 27-20 victory over its Region 2 rival Tuesday at Mercedes Benz Stadium to capture the Panthers second straight Georgia Class A Public championship. The state title is the third in the last four years for the Panthers.
After tying the game up at 13-all, quarterback Tyler Morehead and 4-star junior receiver Jeremiah Johnson went to work in the fourth quarter. The duo connected on two touchdown passes that proved to be the difference for Clinch County, which finishes with a 13-1 record.
Irwin County also finished with a 13-1 mark.
