Former NFL quarterback Ingle Martin now owns four Tennessee high school football championship rings as the head coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA). Thursday, Martin and his Lions dominated Boyd Buchanan 35-13 to win the Division II-AA state title at Finley Stadium at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
North Carolina commit and Mr. Football finalist Crews Law was named the game’s MVP with 121 yards rushing and five-and-a-half tackles on defense. He scored the game’s first touchdown on the game’s opening drive.
Martin, who played for the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos, has led CPA to four state titles in his 11 years as the program’s head coach.
CPA, which entered the game ranked No. 171 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, finishes the year with a 13-1 record.
Tennessee Hall of Fame coach Gary Rankin has built BB into a state championship contender in just two seasons after retiring at Alcoa. The Bucs finish 13-1 this season with lots of underclassmen returning for 2024. That means that Rankin’s 18th overall state title shouldn’t be too far away.
