Fayetteville has hired Bill Blankenship as its new head coach. Blankenship, who was let go by Tulsa after four seasons as head coach at the end of the 2014 campaign, takes-over the reigns of the Bulldogs, who have won three of the last five state championships in Arkansas’ largest classification, including last year’s 7A title.
Blankenship is no stranger to the high school scene, having coached Tulsa’s Union High School to three Oklahoma Class 6A championships and 154 wins in fourteen seasons as the head coach of the Redskins.
Blankenship’s first two years at Tulsa’s were very successful with a 19-8 record that included a Conference USA title and a victory in the 2012 Liberty Bowl. Blankenship went 3-9 and 2-10 in his final two seasons.
