Former Morehouse College head football coach Rick Freeman is the new head football coach at Cedar Grove. The Saints have won five Georgia high school football state championships since 2016 with numerous appearances in the High School Football America national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Freeman, an Atlanta native, was Morehouse’s HC for 16-years, leading the school to its first-ever NCAA Division II playoff berth in 2010. He was the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Coach of the Year award in 2018.
After winning a state title in 2023, Cedar Grove finished 3-7 last season under first-year head coach Roderick Moore.
Cedar Grove has produced nearly three dozen players Division I college football players over the past decade, including NFL Draft picks tight end Jelani Woods (Indianapolis Colts) and linebacker DeAngelo Malone (Atlanta Falcons).
In our national rankings, Cedar Grove finished No. 222 in our national rankings after winning their last state championship in 2023. The Saints highest national ranking was No. 42 in 2022.
