Biff Poggi, the architect of quality football programs at Gilman School and St. Frances Academy in Maryland, is now a college head football coach. Poggi is the new head coach of the Charlotte 49ers.
Poggi left the high school ranks in 2021 to take a job at the University of Michigan. Over the last two years, he’s served as an associate head coach under Jim Harbaugh.
During his time at St. Frances Academy, Poggi put together a 26-game win streak, rising as high as No. 2 in the 2019 High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football. From 2017 through 2020, Poggi’s teams won 34 of 35 games.
The success at SFA wasn’t a surprise to those that saw what Poggi did for Gilman. During his time there (1996-2015), the Greyhounds won 13 conference titles. His last team finished No. 16 in the High School Football America national rankings.
Poggi’s overall record at Gilman was 135-43.
